Hickling Community Gym

Mondays: 7am – 11am

Wednesdays: 8.30am – 10.30am   &  6pm – 7.30pm 

Fridays: 7am – 11am

Sundays: 11am – 12.30pm

All ages and abilities are welcome so come and give it a try. It costs just £20 to join. After that you pay only £18 a month to use it as many times as you want.

Alternatively, you can 'pay as you go'...

..a £5 payment every time you use the gym, or a card of five passes for £22.50. There is also an 'early bird' discount scheme - you can use the gym between 7am and 8am on Monday and Friday mornings for just £3. There is also 'late bird' discount available on Wednesday evening between 6pm and 7pm - the cost is £3 per session after payment of a joining fee (which includes a personalised exercise programme).
And if you are visiting the village, you can buy a £6 day pass. There's no joining fee or assessment, you just need to fill out a short questionnaire.

The Details

Gym Induction

When you join you'll fill in a health questionnaire and your blood pressure will be checked. Then one of our qualified instructors will give you a one-to-one induction showing you all the equipment which you will have an opportunity to try out.

Gym Programme

On your second visit our instructors will take you through a structured exercise programme, tailored to your needs and goals. This is a great way to get the most out of your time in the gym. The instructor will explain your programme and demonstrate every step of the way. It will be a lot of information but remember we have an instructor in the gym at all times to give you a hand if you forget.

Programme Renewals

Your programme can be changed at any time - we recommend changing it every six weeks to keep it effective and exciting but we can change and adapt it at any time.

I have worked at Hickling Gym for over two years and I enjoy the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. It is great to see those enjoying the gym who wouldn't necessarily go to a commercial gym. I am also a qualified sports massage therapist, which is helpful if you get any aches or pains.

I am a mother of three and love all aspects of my job within fitness and health. I am a Level 4 personal trainer. I like learning new things and am currently studying a cardio therapy course.

I started as a member at the gym and due to my love of fitness I completed my Level 2 in fitness instructing and now instruct there. I also qualified as a circuit training instructor and my main passion is keeping the over 50s fit and healthy.

Fitness Classes

The following fitness classes are all held at the Barn. You don't need to be a member of the gym to take part.


Wednesdays 11am - 11.45am and 6pm - 6.45pm

Limited places at each session - £20 for five consecutive sessions (paid in advance to secure your place). Qualified instructor and all equipment supplied. Please bring your own mat/towel/drink if you wish. The first session starts on October 17 and will run for five weeks. Mondays at 11.15am - 12.15pm

Do as much or as little as you can - all levels of fitness are catered for!

Just £3 per session. Ideal for the less active or if you are recovering after an illness.
