There was a big turnout for the Hickling Community Garden's inaugural event – Seedy Saturday – on February 19. Organiser Anne Holloway said: 'Despite the atrocious weather the previous day (which prevented us from setting up the stalls in advance) more than 90 people come through our doors and we raised a total of £235 for the garden. Live music from the Broadland Ukes contributed to a lovely community gathering. The children’s activity table was busy and there were many conversations had around the seed swap tables. We received lots of positive feedback from attendees – particularly about how good it was to see something different happening in the village. Thank you to all the volunteers who contributed – without you it would not have happened. We still have a large number of seeds, so if you are after something a bit different (e.g. heritage veg seeds that are not commercially available) then please get in contact. We hope that this will be the first of several garden events through the year and we are already talking about an Apple Day in October to celebrate the coming of Autumn!'
